Read More » On March 8, 2014, the Malaysia Airlines 777-200ER, registration 9M-MRO, disappeared en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur. The aircraft, with 227 passengers and 12 crew aboard, has never been found despite months of searching across thousands of kilometres of the southern Indian Ocean. “On the MH370, we have taken a position that if there is a compelling case, evidence, that needs to be reopened, we will certainly be happy to reopen it,” Anwar told reporters in Melbourne at a joint media conference with Australian prime minister, Anthony Albanese. “I don't think it is a technical issue. It is the issue of affecting lives of people and whatever needs to be done, must be done.” Prime minister Albanese acknowledged it is a difficult time for many, given it is almost 10 years since the flight disappeared. “We acknowledge at this time the ongoing grief for loved ones and deeply regret the aircraft has not been located, despite extensive searches,” Albanese said.
