AirAsia Malaysia launches first Australian route

Read More » The inaugural AK604, operated by A321neo registration 9M-VAA, landed in Perth around 1930 local time on March 11 after a journey of five hours from the airline’s home hub. The new rotation turned around in an hour and took off as reciprocal AK605 to Malaysia’s largest city. AirAsia Malaysia joins sister carrier, AirAsia X, on the route, which also is served by Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air Malaysia. “We are truly excited to launch AirAsia Malaysia’s first route to Australia,” AirAsia Aviation Group CEO, Bo Lingam, said. “Thanks to the addition of the new model A321neo with longer range capabilities spanning more than five hours and numerous operational efficiencies, we can make these new services a reality on narrow-body aircraft from Kuala Lumpur so more of our guests can travel to Australia affordably.”
