Batik Air Indonesia pilots removed from duty after falling asleep in the cockpit mid-flight

Read More » The incident was detailed in a preliminary report by Indonesia's aviation safety regulator, the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT). The regulator said the two pilots missed several attempts from air traffic control to contact them, leading to the aircraft flying on an incorrect flight path. Other pilots in the area tried to contact the flight crew during the 28 minutes. The aircraft landed without incident in Jakarta. The report described the incident as “serious” and revealed one of the pilots “did not have a proper rest” before reporting for duty. The Lion Air Group carrier told local media it was committed to implementing all the safety recommendations in the KNKT's report.
