Regulators seize black boxes after LATAM Sydney-Auckland flight incident

Read More » The aircraft landed safely in Auckland, but 50 people were treated at the airport for injuries suffered during the incident and 13 passengers were taken to hospital. New Zealand’s Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) is assisting the DGAC’s investigation. “Under the International Convention on Aviation, the Chilean accident investigation authority, the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC), is responsible for investigating the incident and it has confirmed it has opened an investigation,” the TAIC said. “The DGAC has requested the assistance of the Transport Accident Investigation Commission. TAIC is in the process of gathering evidence relevant to the inquiry, including seizure of the cockpit voice and flight data recorders.” LATAM said the flight experienced a “strong shake” and added it was “working in coordination” with the respective authorities to support the investigation. Local media said the aircraft’s pilots had briefly lost instrumentation during the incident.
