China Airlines reports strong February growth in passenger numbers and operating revenue

Taiwan’s China Airlines (CAL) carried 972,179 passengers in February, a 69.4% increase from 574,002 passengers it flew in the same month last year. Read More » The capacity grew 29.2% and passenger load factor improved 7.7 ppt reaching 79.5%. CAL generated TW$9.6 billion (US$306 million) passenger revenue in February, a 59.4% improvement compared to TW$ 6 billion from February 2023. Despite the 24.4% year-on-year decline in cargo revenue to TW$ 3.6 billion, the operating revenue grew 22.4% to TW$13.7 billion, marginally exceeding the January figure. In separate news, CAL announced it has sold five Boeing 747-400F aircraft manufactured between 2001 and 2003. Two aircraft will be delivered to Asiana Airlines and three to Air Atlanta Icelandic between April and October 2024.
