Korean Air and Japan Airlines rumored to be nearing widebody jet orders

Read More » On March 18 Bloomberg Agency reported Korean Air Lines (KAL) is planning to buy around 20 Airbus A350 jets. The potential agreement can be announced as soon as this week, although it may as well not materialize depending on the outcome of a March 21 board meeting, Bloomberg’s informers said. KAL does not operate A350 flights, however, Asiana Airlines which is about to merge with a SkyTeam member airline has a fleet of 15 aircraft of this type and a further 15 in order. On March 19 Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun reported that Japan Airlines (JAL) is nearing a decision on a potential order of about two dozen wide-body jets with Boeing tipped to win at least part of the multi-billion-dollar deal with its 787 Dreamliner. According to Yomuri’s industry sources, the Oneworld carrier is expected to review the decision on Thursday, March 21.
