Qantas Airways has added flights to Christchurch from Brisbane and Melbourne in response to strong demand for travel across the Tasman. Read More » The Australian carrier will operate 10 to 12 Brisbane-Christchurch flights a week from late October, up from its present daily frequency. Melbourne-Christchurch also will increase to 12 times a week from daily between December this year and January 2025 and then stabilise at 10-12 flights a week in 2025. “The extra flights give locals more choice when visiting friends and family in Australia and make it even easier to connect with long-haul destinations, including Europe and Asia, through the Qantas network,” Christchurch Airport CEO, Justin Watson, said. The oneworld alliance member serves Christchurch 14 times a week from Sydney and its alliance partner, Emirates Airline, flies a daily A380 service.
