Read More » Points required to redeem a seat on a particular route with Classic Plus will vary, much like cash air tickets. The new program will be rolled out on the airline’s international network from July 1 and on domestic routes at year-end. “It’s one of the biggest expansions of the frequent flyer program in its 35-year history,” Qantas Group CEO, Vanessa Hudson, said. There will no change to the five million reward seats offered annually through the carrier’s Classic rewards redemption scheme. It offers a fixed points amount plus taxes and fees for a specific route and requires fewer points than Classic Plus. Qantas Loyalty is expected to book underlying earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of A$500 million (US$329 million) to A$525 million in fiscal 2023-2024, down from a February forecast of an underlying EBIT of A$500 million to A$600 million to June 30. Qantas Loyalty recorded underlying EBIT of A$451 million in full-year 2022-2023.
