Middle East conflict putting Malaysia Airlines under “operational strain”

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will temporarily suspend carriage of belly cargo on its Kuala Lumpur-London passenger flights, Bloomberg News reports. Read More » MAS’s air freight contraction on the high demand route is a result of the re-routing of the flag carrier’s flights over some Middle East regions. The diversions, from April 17 to April 30, require more fuel, forcing the airline to lighten its carried load. MAS flights usually fly over Iran to Europe. The new route will cross Central Asia towards Turkey, sidestepping Iran.
