Middle East conflict putting Malaysia Airlines under “operational strain”

The diversions, from April 17 to April 30, require more fuel, forcing the airline to lighten its carried load. MAS flights usually fly over Iran to Europe. The new route will cross Central Asia towards Turkey, sidestepping Iran.
