COMAC books C919 order with China’s largest airline

China Southern Airlines (CSA) has signed a purchase agreement with Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) for 100 C919s. Read More » Deliveries are scheduled from this year to 2031, CSA said in a regulatory filing. “The purchase of the aircraft aligns with the strategy of our country and effectively meets the medium to long-term fleet development needs of the company,” CSA said. “Under the overall layout of the national civil aviation development strategy, domestic market demand for narrow-body aircraft is showing a significant upward trend. The company, by introducing 100 C919 aircraft [into its fleet] from 2024 to 2031 could alleviate the company’s capacity demand pressure, achieve a balanced fleet structure and enhance the overall strength and brand image of the company.” CSA’s commitment follows Air China’s recent order for 100 C919s.
For the three months to March 31, CSA booked a net profit of 756 million yuan (US$104 million) compared with a net loss of 1.9 billion yuan in the same months a year ago.
