China Eastern Airlines narrows net losses in first quarter 2024

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) has reported a net loss of 803 million yuan (US$111 million) for the three months to March 31 compared with a net loss of 3.8 billion yuan in the same months in 2023. Read More » Revenue increased 49.1%, to 33.2 billion yuan, CEA said in a regulatory filing. Total operating costs were 30.2% higher, at 35.5 billion yuan. The company’s efforts in the quarter had focused on seizing the opportunity of recovery in the aviation market by increasing passenger capacity, continuing optimisation of routes and resources and maintaining cost control.
