Vietjet triples net profit traffic update reports

Vietjet netted a 520 billion dong (US$20 million) profit for the 2024 first quarter, more than three times its net profit of 168 billion dong booked in first quarter 2023. The LCC launched 15 domestic and international routes in the three months, expanding its network to 140 destinations. “Despite the challenges faced by the aviation industry from aircraft shortages, Vietjet has risen above them with remarkable achievements, maintaining its development momentum from 2023 by continuing to open international routes setting strong growth in motion for the entire year,” it said. The company told shareholders at last month's annual general meeting it aims to carry 27.4 million passengers this year, 8.3% more than the 25.3 million passengers the LCC flew in 2023.
