Malaysia aviation on "robust path to recovery"

Read More » Malaysia recorded 22.6 million air travellers in the first quarter of the year, up 16.5% from 19.4 million passengers in the same three months in 2023. For the first time since the pandemic outbreak, airlines reported more international passengers, at 11.9 million for first quarter 2024, than domestic air passengers (10.7 million). “As we review air traffic figures for the reported quarter, it is clear aviation is on a robust path to recovery,” MAVCOM executive chair, Datuk Seri Hj. Saripuddin Hj. Kasim, said. “Airlines have shifted their attention to restoring and adding new international destinations to their networks. As well, the introduction of 30-day visa exemptions for tourists from China and India has accelerated the return of international air travel.”
