Korean Air books 20% revenue rise for first quarter 2024

Korean Air (KAL) has reported revenue of KRW3.8225 trillion (US$2.8382 billion) for the first three months of the year, driven by a strong recovery in passenger traffic and robust cargo demand, KAL said. Read More » Compared with the same months last year, operating profit improved 5% year-on-year, to KRW436 billion, and passenger business revenue was higher by 32%, at KRW 2.3421 trillion. However, KAL’s net income of KRW345 billion was 3% lower than a year ago. “The airline’s network capacity has almost recovered to pre-pandemic 2019 levels with the exception of China. Profitability improved through timely capacity expansion on Southeast Asia and Japan routes, catering to strong tourism demand,” a KAL update said.
