Virgin Australia (VA) has applied for extra traffic rights between Australia and Vanuatu. Read More » In a submission to Australia's International Air Services Commission (IASC), VA has sought permission to offer 1,304 additional seats on the route, or seven more Australia-Vanuatu flights a week, with the increased capacity to be available from July. The IASC manages Australia's international traffic rights. VA’s request follows the collapse of Air Vanuatu last week and its entry into voluntary liquidation. Liquidator, EY, has said it intends to resume operations as soon as possible. After Air Vanuatu’s grounding, VA became the only airline operating nonstop between Australia and Vanuatu.
