Skymark reports US$19 million net profit for full fiscal year

Japan-headquartered Skymark Airlines has reported net profit of 3 billion yen (US$19 million) for the 12 months to March 31 2024, down 47.7% from net profit of 5.7 billion yen in the prior year. Read More » Operating revenue rose 22.9% to 104 billion yen, Skymark said in a regulatory filing. The company attributed the decline in net profit to the impact of deferred income taxes. In terms of the broader outlook, Skymark said it expected to grow net profit by 40.1% to 4.2 billion yen in the current financial year ending on March 31 2025, while operating revenues were forecast to rise 7.8% to 112.2 billion yen. "The company believes that there are many growth opportunities for Skymark in the future, including the expansion of slots at Haneda Airport and other airports, as well as the expansion of leisure and inbound demand," Skymark said. "In developing new air routes, the company considers various factors in a diversified way to select them, not only routes from/to major domestic airports, but also routes that directly connect regional areas, taking into account not only business and tourist demand but also the regional demand."
