Singapore Airlines confirms one fatality on turbulence impacted flight

Singapore Airlines (SIA) said one person died on board its SQ321 service from London Heathrow to Singapore yesterday, which was forced to divert to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi due to turbulence. Read More » The 777-300ER registration 9V-SWM was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew. "We can confirm that there are multiple injuries and one fatality on board," SIA said in a post on social media. As of last night (Tuesday May 21), SIA said "18 individuals have been hospitalised", while "another 12 are being treated in hospitals". The remaining passengers and crew were being examined and given treatment, where necessary, at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. "Singapore Airlines offers its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased," SIA said. "We deeply apologise for the traumatic experience that our passengers and crew members suffered on this flight. We are providing all necessary assistance during this difficult time." SIA said it was sending additional staff to Bangkok to support its passengers and crew.
