Singapore Airlines changes seatbelt rules after turbulence flight

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has updated its cabin service procedures when the seat belt sign is illuminated in flight. Read More » Under the new rules, cabin crew will be seated when the seat belt sign is on, while meal services will be suspended and hot drinks not served. The Star Alliance member described the changes as a more cautious approach to dealing with turbulence in flight. The updated procedures followed the last week's flight SQ321 from London Heathrow to Singapore, which was forced to divert to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi due to turbulence and resulted in the death of one passenger and injuries to scores of others. SIA said it continued to review its processes to prioritise the safety of its cabin crew and passengers on board.
