LCC IndiGo and full-service Japan Airlines to code share

Read More » Under the agreement, LCC IndiGo will place its 6E airline code on JAL-operated Tokyo Haneda-Delhi and Tokyo Narita-Bengaluru flights and JAL will have its JL airline code on IndiGo domestic routes from Bengaluru and Delhi to Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Goa, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirappalli and Varanasi. The partnership will commence in the 2024 northern hemisphere winter scheduling season. “We are excited to announce our new codeshare partnership with IndiGo, having the largest domestic network in India, and offering high quality service to customers,” JAL managing executive officer and senior vice president for route marketing, Ross Leggett, said. “In recent years, India has achieved remarkable economic growth and the air travel demand between Japan and India is increasing more than ever.” IndiGo senior vice president for network planning and revenue management, Abhijit DasGupta, said: “Japan has been increasing in popularity amongst Indian travellers as both countries are working to strengthen bilateral relationships and ease visa norms. Over time, we intend to expand the geographic and reciprocal coverage of this relationship to grow travel opportunities for customers of both airlines.”
