Thai Airways International boosts results from one-off gains

Thai Airways International (THAI) has announced a net profit of 12.5 billion baht (US$363 million) for the three months to September 30 against a 1.5 billion baht net profit in the same months in 2023. Read More » Its bottom line was positively impacted by one-off revenue injections from foreign exchange gains, debt restructuring, expiration adjustments to ticket fees and a share of profits from its investments in associated companies, THAI said. It was the flag carrier’s eighth consecutive quarterly profit, however, net profit for the nine months to September 30 still declined 6.9%, to 15.2 billion baht, THAI said in a regulatory filing. In a LinkedIn post, commercial advisor to the airline’s CEO, Otto Gergye, said: “THAI is well into a strong 2024 fourth quarter with its 59 wide-bodies and 20 narrow-bodies operating 225 flights a day to 65 destinations.”
