China Eastern Airlines and Etihad Airways to operate joint venture on selected routes

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) and Etihad Airways will coordinate flights and share revenue on several routes, Etihad CEO, Antonoaldo Neves, told Reuters news agency earlier this week. Read More » The two airlines will jointly manage their flight capacity to several destinations, coordinate schedules and share revenue. The partnership does not include equity or cost-sharing, Neves said, when highlighting the partnership was the first joint venture of the type between the Middle East and China. “Within a defined geographic scope we will work together as if we are a single entity. This gives us the ability to offer customers more alternatives,” he said. The joint venture model, common among European and American airlines, is planned to operate from 2025 following approval from the relevant regulators.
