Jetstar Airways granted Australia-Bali capacity; Virgin Australia’s application denied

The International Air Services Commission (IASC) has issued a draft determination granting 2,320 seats per week to Jetstar Airways and has turned down a Virgin Australia (VA) bid for 2,464 seats. Read More » The decision was a victory for the Qantas Group LCC in the “Battle for Bali”. The draft ruling said Qantas Airways Limited must fully use the capacity by no later than November 7 this year or such other date the IASC approves. The capacity must be operated via or beyond a point in Australia other than Sydney, Melbourne (including Avalon airport), Brisbane and Perth and be utilized by Qantas Airways or Jetstar Airways as long as the LCC is 100%-owned by the airline group.
