Mainland air travellers paid less for Dragon Boat holiday air fares than a year ago

China’s ministry of transport reported the average domestic economy class fare across China was CNY580 (US$80). According to flight tracker, Flight Master, the fares also were 10% cheaper than the same holiday period in pre-pandemic 2019. China’s airlines operated 42,400 flights for the reported three days, a slippage of 0.7% from a year earlier, but also 0.9% higher than in June 2019. International airfares averaged a 20% cut against 12 months ago, the government said. China-Japan recovered to near 75% of pre-COVID 2019 levels and return trips between China and the UK and the UAE exceeded pre-pandemic passenger volumes.
