Singapore Airlines Group reports 14.3% increase in passengers last month

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Scoot flew a combined 3.2 million passengers in May against the 2.8 million air travellers the two carriers transported a year ago. Average passenger load factor for the 31 days was 86.1%, a decline of 1.9 percentage points from a year earlier. “Demand for air travel remained robust across all route regions in May,” SIA said. Cargo loads rose 18.5%, to 496.8 million tonne kilometres in the month, compared with a year ago “on the back of strong e-commerce demand and some demand spill over from disruptions in sea freight”, SIA said.
