Passengers travelling through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) increased to 4.7 million in May from 3.8 million air travellers processed in the same month in 2023. Read More » KLIA’s domestic passenger numbers declined 2.4%, to 1.3 million, but international passengers were up 35.1%, to 3.4 million for the month, KLIA operator Malaysia Airports Holdings (MAHB), said in a traffic update. “The positive traffic development for Malaysia can be attributed to the public holidays coinciding with the school holiday season, which traditionally stimulates travel demand, and the proactive efforts of foreign and local airlines to expand seat offerings,” MAHB said. Highlighting the recovery in international traffic were figures that show KLIA international passengers from outside the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) were higher by 44.8%, at 1.8 million, outpacing a 25.9% increase in ASEAN traffic.
