Shanghai’s two airports expect 16% boost in peak summer air traffic

Passenger flow through Shanghai’s Pudong and Hongqiao airports is forecast to reach an average of 360,000 travelers a day between July 1 and August 31, a 16% rise over a year ago China News Service reports. Read More » The airports estimate 22.2 million passengers will pass through their terminals in the peak holiday season and 60% of the air travellers will be processed through Hongqiao. Airlines will operate near to 2,270 take-offs and landings daily in the 62 days, up 8% from a year ago. Bookings show the most popular domestic cities for holiday makers are Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Sanya and Urumqi and Japan, Thailand, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates the most in demand international destinations.
