Australia’s Rex to continue flying after government guarantees flights and bookings

Australia's federal government will guarantee all flight bookings for Rex regional operations as the airline proceeds through voluntary administration. Read More » On August 14, Australia’s transport minister, Catherine King, said Rex customers flying on regional routes now have the certainty “they will either fly or get their money back” as a result of the government’s backing”. “Rex’s continuation is in the best interests of Australia and the government is working closely with the administrators to ensure a strong regional aviation presence now and into the future,” King said. “Rex welcomes the announcement of the federal government's Regional Flight Booking Guarantee, which is a positive step towards securing the future of Rex, Rex's 1,200-plus employees and all Australians who rely on these services to connect their communities,” said administrator Sam Freeman. The guarantee does not apply to Rex’s 737 operations between the country’s capital cities.
