Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has reduced available seat kilometres at Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and religious pilgrimage arm, Amal, until December. Read More » The shrinkage is a result of recent “operational difficulties” that have disrupted flights and inconvenienced customers, MAG said. The decision will guarantee the “long-term reliability of our fleet and the robustness of our operations. It will enhance our ability to ensure customers flying with Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Amal face minimal disruptions and have the best experience possible with us”, MAG CEO, Datuk Capt. Izham Ismail, said. “I personally apologise for disruptions to passenger travel plans and the inconvenience caused,” he said. “We are taking immediate steps to address the root causes of significant issues that contribute to operational difficulties, including supply chain constraints, manpower challenges and other external factors, all part of the continuing normalisation of global aviation operations post-pandemic.” Capt. Izham, who also apologised to customers on August 16 after a series of flight disruptions and cancellations, said MAG had been impacted by delayed deliveries of new aircraft this year, leading to fewer aircraft than planned being available to service the networks of its airlines.
