Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia to activate codeshare by end of 2024

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) and Virgin Australia (VA) said regulators in Australia and New Zealand have given the green light to their revived code-share with the agreement to commence before year-end. Read More » VA will place its airline code on Air NZ flights from Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington to various points in Australia. Queenstown will be VA's only destination to New Zealand. Members of VA’s frequent flyer program will be eligible for points and other benefits when flying with Air NZ. A previous code-share between the two airlines ceased in 2018. “Australians share our love of New Zealand and its national carrier and we can’t wait to reignite this partnership before the end of the year,” VA chief strategy and transformation officer, Alistair Hartley, said. Air NZ chief transformation and alliances officer, Mike Williams said: “We know our Aussie friends are a travel hungry bunch. Whether it is just a quick weekend trip to catch up with family or exploring more of New Zealand, this partnership provides extra options for more Australians to visit beautiful Aotearoa.”
