Australian domestic passenger expansion stable in June

Airlines operating in Australia carried 4.6 million passengers on scheduled flights in June, little changed from the 4.59 million in-country passengers they transported a year ago. Read More » Capacity slipped slightly, by 0.6%, for the month and passenger load factor was higher by half a percentage point at 78.8%, Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) reports. The busiest domestic route for the 30 days was Melbourne-Sydney with airlines collectively flying 615,300 passengers on the route, up 2.3% from the 601,500 air travellers they transported between the two cities a year ago.
