AIRLINES: Low-cost carrier Air Arabia Jordan, a joint venture between Jordan’s Petra Airways and Sharjah-based Air Arabia, will commence operations from Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport on May 19. CARGO: United Parcel Service (UPS) has reported a $1.03 billion first-quarter net profit, up 12.6% from the corresponding period in 2014, on a 1.4% year-on-year revenue increase to $13.98 billion.

CODESHARES: Japan Airlines (JAL) has added its ‘JL’ designator to British Airways’ services from Heathrow to Dublin, as well as Finnair’s daily Helsinki – Dublin route. Air Seychelles has placed its ‘HM’ code on Jet Airways’ ex Mumbai services to Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Etihad Airways (ETIHAD) and American Airlines have extended their codeshares, with American adding its ‘AA’ designator to ETIHAD’s Abu Dhabi – Dallas and Abu Dhabi – San Francisco routes, while ETIHAD placed its ‘EY’ code on American’s ex Dallas services to Albuquerque, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, Sacramento, San Diego and San Jose.

ROUTES: AirAsia Malaysia will add a thrice-weekly Kuala Lumpur – Male A320 operation commencing July 16. From May 5, All Nippon Airways (ANA) will replace the B787-8 with the larger -9 on the daily Haneda – Munich rotation. China Eastern Airlines will reduce frequency on the Kunming – Dubai A330-200 route from thrice- to twice-weekly from June 1 through to August 31, but will add a fourth-weekly rotation on the Nanchang – Taipei A320 route beginning July 3. Emirates Airline will launch a daily Dubai – Orlando B777-200LR service from September 1. Etihad Airways will further reduce frequency on the Abu Dhabi – Moscow (DME) A321 route from twice-daily to daily starting June 15. flydubai will launch a thrice-weekly Dubai – Novosibirsk B737 service from October 4, and a twice-weekly Dubai – Nizhny Novgorod B737 service from October 7. HK Express will add a weekly Hong Kong – Lanzhou A320 operation beginning June 10. Hong Kong Airlines has launched a four-weekly Hong Kong – Nanchang A320 rotation. IndiGo has added a daily Hyderabad – Lucknow A320 service. Jetstar Airways will launch a thrice-weekly Townsville – Denpasar A320 service starting September 2. Kuwait Airways will deploy the A330-200 on the four-weekly Kuwait – Chennai route from July 2. Qatar Airways will increase frequency on the Doha – Zagreb A320 route from five-weekly to daily starting July 1, on the Doha – Ankara A320 route from six-weekly to daily from July 3, and on the Doha – Basra A320 route from four- to eight-weekly beginning May 16. Shenzhen Airlines will launch a daily Beijing – Osaka (KIX) A320 service beginning July 1. From May 18, Vistara will add a daily Delhi – Lucknow A320 rotation, and from June 16, it will launch daily Delhi – Bangalore and daily Mumbai – Bangalore A320 services. Xiamen Airlines will start a thrice-weekly Xiamen – Shizuoka B737-800 service from July 2, subject to government approvals.
