All Nippon Airways introduces 777 freighter equipped with AeroSHARK technology

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has started operations of a 777 freighter equipped with AeroSHARK film. Read More » It features ribs of 50 micrometers rolled into riblets that are applied to aircraft fuselages. The surface technology, developed by Lufthansa Technik and BASF, and inspired by shark skin, reduces drag and enhances fuel efficiency. ANA will extend the AeroSHARK technology to a passenger 777-300ER (JA796A) by the first quarter of next year, becoming the first individual airline to operate both passenger and freighter variants of 777s equipped with the technology.
