Turkish Airlines to inaugurate one-stop Istanbul-Sydney

Turkish Airlines and Sydney Airport have announced Turkiye’s flag carrier will commence four times a week Istanbul to Sydney via Kuala Lumpur on December 5. Read More » The route will be operated by A350-900s configured with 32 business and 297 economy seats. The airline plans non-stop Istanbul-Sydney in 2026 after it’s ordered A350-1000s start arriving in its fleet. The airline will use an existing Istanbul-Kuala Lumpur rotation for the new routing. It added overall capacity between Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur will not change from its present schedule of 14 flights a week. Kuala Lumpur-Sydney will be a fifth freedom service. Late last year, the Australian government issued Turkiye with fifth freedom rights, offering the airline the option to fly up to 35 services a week to Australia on the condition its stops over in the Middle East or Southeast Asia. At present, the airline flies Istanbul-Melbourne via Singapore.
