China Airlines books best ever August air passenger demand

In a statement delivered to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, CAL said consolidated sales reached NT$17.75 billion (US$552 million) in August, an increase of 8.99% from a year earlier, and was CAL’s best ever set of August results. Passenger demand generated sales higher by 3.51% from the matching month in 2023 at NT$11.19 billion, it said. Demand for AI servers, semiconductor equipment and high-end engines had boosted cargo sales by 24.26%, to NT$53.1 billion, from a year ago, also recording the cargo division’s best ever performance for August. CAL said passenger demand is continuing to increase as the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday approaches, in particular to destinations in Japan. Air cargo has entered peak season with many international brands about to release new smartphones and PCs, it added.
