China Eastern starts C919 trial using sustainable aviation fuel

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) has operated its C919 aircraft using a blend of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for the first time. Read More » The inaugural flight with SAF took place late last week on the Beijing Daxing to Shanghai Hongqiao route. The Skyteam alliance member said recently it planned to trial the use of SAF on the C919 on four domestic routes until December. The other three routes were Daxing-Xi'an, Ningbo-Daxing and Chengdu-Hangzhou. The airline said the SAF was produced from animal and vegetable oils and agricultural waste.
