Kuala Lumpur International Airport posts 20.1% lift in passengers in August

Malaysia Airports (MAHB) said passenger numbers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) rose 20.1% to 5.1 million in August, from 4.3 million in the same month in 2023. Read More » KLIA’s domestic passenger numbers rose 7.1%, to 1.4 million, and international passengers improved 25.8%, to 3.7 million, MAHB said. The KLIA airport operator said the international passenger growth was largely driven by summer travel holidays, new airlines, airline expansion to new routes and additional weekly frequencies on existing routes. Key international markets, particularly Indonesia, China, and India, were the top performers contributing to the increase in August traffic across its portfolio of airports in Malaysia, MAHB said.
