Airports Authority of India has selected SITA to install contactless boarding technology at nine airports across the country – Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Goa (Dabolim), Indore, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur and Visakhapatnam – as part of India's DigiYatra initiative to provide passengers with a paperless airport experience using advanced facial recognition technology. This latest agreement builds on a 2023 deal for SITA to provide technology to 43 of India's biggest airports.
Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) has recommenced providing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the A380 after signing an agreement to conduct heavy maintenance on a Global Airlines' A380. EFW is a joint-venture between Airbus and ST Engineering.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said the FIATA International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations has endorsed its IATA Cargo Handling Manual, following a year of “discussions, review and collaboration” between the two organisations.
Virgin Australia signed an agreement with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga at last week's Bali International Air Show to purchase 160,000 litres of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for use on its flights departing Bali. “Ultimately, we need support from many areas within the Australian and international aviation industry to ensure an ongoing, reliable, and affordable SAF operation at Virgin Australia,” the airline said in a social media post.
