Japan Airlines (JAL) is flying an A350-900 with a one-off livery featuring Shohei Ohtani, a member of U.S. Major League Baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Read More » Dubbed “DREAM SHO JET”, the wide-body carrying the livery began flying on September 29 and will continue operations until March 2026. The launch of the DREAM SHO JET coincided with a new JAL project giving away flights to students in Japan needing to travel to pursue their goals in sport, education, artistic endeavours and other passions. JAL is distributing the free tickets through an application process for flights equivalent to 892,440 kilometres. This is the distance Ohtani has travelled since he started at Hanamaki Higashi High School. “Under the message ‘Give every dream a chance to take flight’, JAL will provide airline tickets from departure points to the destinations young people must travel to realise their dreams,” JAL said. The airline added it has a “support contract” with Ohtani.
