Asia-Pacific airlines post 21.7% increase in international passengers

Read More » Capacity was higher by 19.7% year-on-year and passenger load factor was 0.7 percentage points better at 83.2%, the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) said. “Supported by an ongoing expansion in connectivity, travel demand is forecast to remain healthy on routes within and across the region,” AAPA director general, Subhas Menon, said. “Nevertheless, persistent supply chain disruptions continue to pose challenges to the region’s carriers. Delays in aircraft deliveries, shortages of spare parts and a lack of skilled labour have heightened operational pressures contributing to flight disruptions and further increasing costs.” The AAPA data for the month represented 96.1% of the 33.6 million passengers Asia-Pacific airlines transported in pre-COVID August 2019.
