Australia records 10% increase in international air travellers update reports

Travellers flying into and out of Australia improved by 10.1% in July, to 3.6 million, compared with 3.2 million international passengers in the same month a year ago. Read More » Despite the increase, international passengers processed through Australia’s airports were 4.7% below the 3.7 million air travellers arriving and departing the country in pre-pandemic July 2019, figures from Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) show. Capacity for the month was higher by 9.1%, at 4.4 million seats, against July 2023. Qantas Airways retained its position as the country's leading international airline by passengers, with a 16.1% market share, ahead of Qantas Group LCC, Jetstar (12%). The country's largest foreign carrier in the 31 days was Singapore Airlines (8.8%) followed by Emirates Airline (6.5%) and Air New Zealand (6.5%).
