Malaysia Airlines “deeply disappointed” by A330-900 first delivery delay

Malaysia Airlines said it is working with Airbus and lessor Avolon to secure a new delivery timeline and expedite the aircraft’s entry into service. The flag carrier, which has ordered 20 of the wide-bodies, plans to have five A330-900s flying in its fleet by the close of first quarter 2025. “We are deeply disappointed by the aircraft delivery delays by Airbus, compounded by the ongoing setbacks of our 737-8 deliveries,” Malaysia Aviation Group CEO, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, said. “These delays are significantly disrupting our fleet modernisation and growth requirements. As we take decisive steps toward a stronger 2025, having the necessary assets in place is crucial to meet our growth targets, optimise our network and continue delivering enhanced services to our customers.”
