The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has asked domestic and overseas airlines to apply for 19,327 passenger and cargo flights a week in the winter-spring season, 1.2% more than a year ago. Read More » More than half of the flights will be operated from 57 countries taking part in China’s Belt and Road initiative. Scheduled international flights for the winter-spring season will be 23% lower than the 2019-20 season, the regulator said, mainly as a result of a slower than expected recovery in European and U.S markets. At present, flights to North America out of China are less than half the numbers of pre-pandemic 2019 and early 2020.
