Passenger demand hits all-time post-pandemic high

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said Asia-Pacific airlines recorded an 18.5% year-on-year increase in demand, measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), in September. Read More » Capacity measured in available seat kilometers improved 17.7% year-on-year and passenger load factor was 82.6%, a +0.5ppt increase compared with September last year. Total demand was up 7.1% over the matching month a year ago, an all-time high. Total capacity was better by 5.8% over a year earlier and passenger load factor was 83.6% for the 30 days. “The year’s peak travel season ended with demand at an all-time high. This is good news not just for passengers but for the global economy,” IATA director general, Willie Walsh said.
