Singapore Airlines launches US$836 million A350 retrofit program

Singapore Airlines (SIA) plans to add a first class cabin to its fleet of seven A350-900ULRs (ultra long haul) as part of an S$1.1 billion (US$836 million) retrofit program of 41 A350-900s. Read More » The A350-900ULRs new layout will be four first, 70 business and 58 premium economy seats, a reduction of 29 seats from the current 67 business and 94 premium economy seats offered on the type. The seven A350-900ULRs and 34 A350-900 long-haul configured aircraft also will feature a new business class seat and refreshed economy (on the non-ULR variant) and premium economy cabins. “The S$1.1 billion investment in retrofitting our 41 A350s reaffirms the unwavering commitment of SIA to delivering an exceptional travel experience,” SIA CEO, Goh Choon Phong, said. “In the past six years, we have extensively engaged customers and stakeholders in the design of our next-generation long-haul cabin products, anticipating their evolving preferences and expectations to the finest detail.” The program is being undertaken by SIA Engineering Company. The first of SIA’s A350-900 long-haul aircraft with the retrofit will enter service with the airline in 2026 followed by the first of the carrier’s A350-900ULRs in 2027.
