Hong Kong’s third runway to be commissioned by month end

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has announced November 28 as the commissioning date for the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) three-runway system (3RS). Read More » The new north runway is in use, but the airport has continued to operate with two runways while the centre runway was temporarily closed for reconfiguration into the 3RS. The work has included levelling of the runway pavement, construction of new runway entry and exit taxiways and the building of new wrap-around taxiways at both ends of the runway. “As for 3RS passenger facilities, AAHK will start gearing up with business partners to commission the expanded Terminal 2 in phases from end 2025,” AAHK said. "Preparatory work will include on-site preparation for various passenger services and retail and service outlets leasing.”
