Asia-Pacific airlines continue to lead world in post-pandemic recovery

Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) airline delegates and industry stakeholders gathered in Brunei this week for the 68th Assembly of Presidents where it was re-emphasised the region’s carriers are outstripping their peers worldwide in the pace of their recovery from COVID. Read More » “Asia-Pacific leadership in air travel and cargo growth is surpassing all other regions,” AAPA director general, Subhas Menon, said in the Assembly’s welcome address. “It is a remarkable recovery in key metrics considering air transport ground to an almost complete standstill during the pandemic.”
At the first day of the assembly airline delegates passed resolutions to encourage industry stakeholders to develop break through sustainable aviation fuel production expansion, harvest best industry practices from data analysis and adopt safety measures to identify critical risk categories specific to flying in the region. Additionally, they called on governments to refrain from introducing unilateral measures that disproportionately inconvenience the traveling public, increase costs and yield limited benefits.
