Air freight demand is predicted to expand by 4% a year to 2043 underpinned by high growth Asian markets and a sustained rise in e-commerce, Boeing’s latest World Air Cargo Forecast details. Read More » The East Asia-North America trade route is expected to command the largest share of cargo tonne kilometres (CTK) in the two decades ahead, Boeing added. The 4% annual air freight expansion rate compares with the 4.1% annual growth rate forecast in the OEM’s previous air cargo outlook - published in 2022. “As the quickest and most reliable way to move goods, air cargo's sustained growth has returned the industry to its long-term trend,” Boeing vice president commercial marketing, Darren Hulst, said. “There will be many drivers for continuing freighter demand in the next 20 years, including expansion of emerging markets and global growth in manufacturing and e-commerce.” The Asia-Pacific is expected to take delivery of 980 new and converted freighters from now and 2043, Boeing said.
