Seoul Incheon airport forecasts 100% recovery from pandemic by year-end

(IIAC) said 71.2 million passengers will have been processed at South Korea’s capital city airport in the current calendar year, a 26.9% increase on previous numbers and surpassing 2019 full-year results of 71.1 million passengers processed five years ago. IIAC also predicts a full recovery in cargo transport at 2.9 million tons for this year. The airport company’s annual turnover guidance is 2.5 trillion won ($1.7 billion) to December 31, returning a net profit of around 528 billion won for the 12 months. IIAC completed its four-stage construction project this year, including the expansion of Terminal 2. In 2025, it will refurbish Terminal 1 and complete relocation of airline terminals following the merger of Korean Air and Asiana Airlines. “Next year, the company will steadily achieve digital transformation, build the best infrastructure and develop new air routes,” IIAC CEO, Lee Hag-jae, said.
