Shanghai Pudong Airport breaks ground on T3 terminal complex

Read More » The new terminal will increase the airport’s existing annual capacity from 80 million passengers a year to 130 million air travellers annually. Opened in 1999 and now the top ranking civil airport in China, Shanghai Pudong Airport is a key hub for domestic and international flights, particularly trans-Pacific and European routes. It processed more than 76 million passengers in 2019 compared with a 64.3 million traveler throughput in the first 10 months of this year. After T3 terminal is opened in 2028, the complex will have one single satellite hall and four runways in addition to its three terminals. The 1.7 million square metre T3 will include an underground transport hub, an airfield, a cargo area and ancillary projects. To meet airline operational requirements T3 will have 90 contact stands, of which 31 will be convertible, the largest number of any airport in China.
