Hong Kong Airlines will resume long-haul flying in January with schedules from Hong Kong to Queensland’s Gold Coast and Canada’s Vancouver. Read More » On January 17 the airline will begin operating four Hong Kong-Gold Coast flights a week followed by the introduction of a twice weekly trans-Pacific service to Vancouver the next day. “This strategic move marks the airline's transformation from a regional carrier to an international airline with a focus on expanding its global network,” a November 22 Hong Kong Airlines statement said. Flight sectors had fully recovered to pre-pandemic numbers and the carrier has recorded an average passenger load factor of approximately 85%,” the airline said. Hong Kong Airlines will be the only airline flying nonstop between the Gold Coast and Hong Kong. Both Air Canada and Cathay Pacific operate Hong Kong-Vancouver.
